1. Besides the flag, tell us about something red, something white and something blue from your weekend.
The tie on the cover of the book I binge-read this weekend is red, white, and blue… all in one! And it was such a great book, a tangled thriller. The best kind… one where there’s just no clear-cut bad guy or good guy!
Cover is linked to Amazon.
2. June is here and it’s National Give A Bunch of Balloons Month. Who would you give a bunch to if you could? Tell us why.
I’m not a big fan of balloons. I guess it’s come, at least in part, from living on this island. They’re pretty awful for the wildlife and sea life when people leave them strewn about. I like making little gift baskets for people instead.
3. What are three adjectives you associate with the month of June? Something you’re looking forward to this month?
Happy, sad, stormy. I’m not really as all over the place as that particular selection suggests, I promise.
Happy because it’s summer, although it’s always summer in Hawii, I guess! Happy because my husband’s birthday on the 11th, and my two youngest (17 & 19 years old) get their 2nd COVID shots the same day. Happy because my brother’s birthday is on the 25th. Happy because Father’s Day is on the 20th, and my hubby is awesome!
Sad because the 11th was also my grandmother’s birthday, and I miss her so much. Sad because the 6th anniversary of my dad’s passing is the 8th, and his birthday was the 15th. Sad because, well, also Father’s Day on the 20th.
Stormy because June 1st starts the hurricane season in Hawaii.
4. Tell us about a time (besides the obvious Corona answer) when you felt stuck in second gear.
Losing my parents within five weeks of each other in April to June 2015, plus graduating college… it was too much in too small a span of time. Weirdly, my parents had been divorced for almost 28 years. It was a rough time for me.
5. Sum up your May in fifteen words or less.
A month of reading, self-care, and changes!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I’m craving peace and serenity in my life. Like really needing it. Sometimes it feels like it is an unachievable goal, the world being what it is.
peace and serenity both sound good! I also love that you had a month of reading and self-care. I hope your changes were good changes.
I’m sorry for your huge losses in a short span of time. I’m sure it was hard and I imagine takes a long while to come to grips with. I hope your June brings peace and is hurricane-free!
That is very hard to lose both parents in such a short span of time. Hurricane season…yikes. Stay safe!
Oh Peace and serenity sound amazing. That would be hard to lose parents so close together. I love a good thriller book as well. Not horror, but thriller!
