1. Among the supposedly cool, convenient things your phone can do, which have you so far refused to try?

I don’t use the health trackers. Is it about privacy concerns? Maybe some. Mostly I think the ship has long since sailed on that. It seems like concern comes too little too late. We embraced the technology; now we have to live with it.

2. Among the great things your phone can do, which did you unexpectedly really like?

Unexpectedly… hmm. Probably the Apple podcast app. I listen to a LOT of podcasts.

3. Which of the other new electronic gadgets or services have you so far been resistant to trying or reluctant to try?

Not that new but Alexa. Nope. Hard pass. I don’t need Amazon listening to me!

4. How has some of the new technology changed the way you think about life, the universe, or everything?

On the plus side, in terms of cells, there’s a convenience level that didn’t exist when I myself was a kid of the 1970s and a teen of the 1980s. As a mom with kids, that gave me a sense of security knowing they had access to help if they needed it. And I do love my Kindle. On the negative side, I think there’s clear evidence that screens have led to less human-to-human connection which I hate. But let’s be real. Almost all of us are guilty of that.

5. What percentage of the time is your phone within ten feet of you?

Pretty much 24/7. It’s my alarm clock at night, my multipurpose tool the rest of the time. The only time I don’t generally have it is when I’m at the beach. I usually leave it in the car.
