1. If we renamed all the vitamins so their names were the initials of essential components of mentally healthy living, what would the A in Vitamin A stand for, what should you consume in order to get it, and what’s the recommended daily (or weekly, or whatever) allowance?

A is for amusement. There is nothing healthier, in my opinion, than laughter. Foods that contain Vitamin Amusement should be fun to eat, should be silly. What’s a silly food? Food art! An animal sandwich? A rainbow cake covered in confetti? Cat-shaped onigiri? Anything that makes you laugh! And eat it DAILY!!!

2. What would the B in Vitamin B stand for, what should you consume in order to get it, and what’s the recommended daily (or weekly, or whatever) allowance?

B is for books. Reading can take you to new places. It provides escapism. Vitamin Books is found in a good cup of tea or coffee, in a bowl of cashews, in popcorn. Like Vitamin Amusement, Vitamin Books should be taken at least every other day, if not daily!

3. What would the C in Vitamin C stand for, what should you consume in order to get it, and what’s the recommended daily (or weekly, or whatever) allowance?

C is for several things, at least for me. C-1 is for coffee, something that brings me great joy and peace. C-2 is for chocolate, an indulgence that is comforting and pampering. C-3 is for calm, which we all need. C-4 is for compassion, which there should be more of. And C-5 is for creativity, which feeds the soul. As for what to consume, C-1 and C-2 are self-explanatory. C-3 is in comfort food, as is C-4. C-5 is sushi. I don’t know why, but there you go. And all of them should be taken on the daily.

4. What would the D in Vitamin D stand for, what should you consume in order to get it, and what’s the recommended daily (or weekly, or whatever) allowance?

D-1 is for dogs, and D-2 is for dreaming. I will stand on the hill that my dog is a necessary part of my mental health; he’s my sweet boy. And dreaming… we are never too old to dream. I think we forget that as adults. D-1 is consumed by osmosis, by petting and cuddling said dog. D-2 comes from foods that aren’t a part of your everyday nutrition. Personally, I think both versions should be done on the daily!!

5. What would the E in Vitamin E stand for, what should you consume in order to get it, and what’s the recommended daily (or weekly, or whatever) allowance?

E is for engagement. I think it’s easy to get stuck on the other side of the screen. We need to be more social, even within our own little circles, within our own house. With the way the world is now, engagement is hard sometimes, but we need the interaction. Engagement is found in any food you share with others. And daily, daily, daily.
