play along here

I love me a weird home, a weird Zillow listing. Sometimes it’s the house itself. Sometimes it’s the odd stuff in the photos. Here are some weird ones for you!!

1. house + mini horse = SALE

This listing is filled with photos with this cute little guy taking the starring role. And there is not a single mention of the very obvious mini horse!! I just wanna know if he’s included in the price. Mind you, the listing is for a townhouse, not a farm of any size.

price: $596,000
location: Ventura, CA
Zillow

2. the goth mansion

No need to decorate for Halloween! This place is WILD, including what looks like a basement rec room filled with horror movie memorabilia. The only part of it that seems to wholly gothic-free is a single bedroom and an indoor pool area which is INSANE, just in a different way.

price: $885,000
location: Sonoita, AZ
Zillow

3. stargazing anyone?

This dome house has a feature I’ve not had in any place I’ve ever lived. The cupola at the top? It’s a stargazing room with views in every direction. And it’s more than a unique house. It’s an entire business. The whole place is entirely off-grid, and it comes with a separate studio cabin to rent for glampers, as well as 10 campsites, 2 outdoor showers, and porta-potties.

price: $999,000
location: Tehachapi, CA
Zillow

4. the 80s called

The house looks so innocent on the exterior. But then you open the front door and immediately step back in time. Every room is painted with bright graphics, some with artistic graffiti. As an added bonus, the backyard also boasts an odd freestanding triangular wall with no purpose that I could discern.

price: $300,000
location: Salem, OR
Zillow

5. I scream, we all scream

For ice cream. An entire house with an ice-cream theme. From candy-toned appliances to ice cream cone-shaped stools, the kitchen fully embraces the theme. It even has “drips” decorating the walls. Even the bedrooms and bathrooms carry on the theme through wallpaper and art. It’s insane!

price: $750,000
location: Waco, TX
Zillow

6. Irish pubs and basketball

On the outside, the home appears to be a stately manor, set in the shelter of lush trees. But then you walk into a very modern main floor. But that’s not the main attraction. That distinction is reserved for the Irish pub in the basement. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a billiards room and a basketball court.

price: $1,599,999
location: Gates Mills, OH
Zillow

7. a little bit of everything

I’m not sure what to make of this place. Every room is a different theme, and there’s very little (if any) connection. Eyeballs on the walls in one room, 70s-era pop-art palm trees in another. But truly… the written description is just as wild as the interiors. Just one of several notable lines within it…

“Step inside this candy-coated den of depravity, where the only thing filthier than the décor is what’s about to happen inside!”

Um, okay.

price: $350,000
location: Pine Lake, GA
Zillow

8. full 70s vibe

Graphic stripes, dropped ceilings, wood paneling. You name, this place has it. I feel like I’m looking at my childhood. Every room reminds me of days gone by. From the colors to the wallpaper to the art, it’s a definite throwback. But I love the vintage vibe of it!!

price: $429,900
location: Pendleton, IN
Zillow

9. beware the feral wildlife

For this one, it’s the description that truly makes the listing. It begins with this…

The value is in the land. Do NOT enter the house under any conditions. It is occupied by feral cats and raccoons. How do they get along? I don’t know.

I’m not sure that’s a selling point.

price: $300,000
location: Parkton, MD
Zillow

10. if you’re looking for all of Vegas in one place

And I mean that literally. You’ve probably seen parts of it before. It’s a popular place for YouTubers to film, and it’s been on shows like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and Extreme Homes. Features include the stained-glass dome from the Dunes, the staircase from Liberace’s show at the Riviera, iconic signage. There’s also… a planetarium, among a score of other Vegas iconic items.

price: $2.5 million
location: Las Vegas, NV
Zillow

11. unusual abodes

I would happily live here. It’s just steps from the beach with views in every direction. A lot of the original construction is still present, too. The top floor is a rotunda with gorgeous views in every direction.

price: $5.5 million
location: Surfside, CA
Zillow

12. the home that time forgot

The home was once featured in Better Homes and Gardens, in February 1963. And very little has been changed since. The home was custom-built, with every built-in imaginable. There’s even a tennis court and a pool with a cabana.

price: $499,888
location: Waverly, TN
Zillow

13. the home that time forgot

Who doesn’t want a house with a moat and a drawbridge? There’s also a massive river stone pillar that rises in the middle of the round portion of the home.

price: $565,000
location: Mayfield Village, OH
Zillow

  1. #1: When I lived in Ventura County (Oxnard, which is the next town over) in the late ’90s, there was enough open space that horses were a possibility. Depending upon what part of town you were in.

#11: I know *exactly* where that is. I visit my father weekly (most weeks), and I drive right by that place on the way. Not a bad part of town. Near the ocean. Are they having open houses? I’d love to actually get a look inside.
